Strengthening local democratic governance in Ukraine
Project summary
Outcomes
Policy co-ordination and consultation between local authorities, their associations, and the national authorities are systematic and effective
Local governance in Ukraine is improved through the integration of principles of transparency, accountability and equal citizen participation
Methodology
Congress will contribute to the creation of an efficient institutional consultation mechanism between local and national authorities to be embedded in the regulatory framework by supporting national associations of local authorities as major actors of the local governance system, and in particular the AUC, in their lobbying and advocacy;
Congress will facilitate the creation of a sustainable, inclusive and accountable local self-government that responds to citizens needs and expectations, thus increasing their trust in public institutions by directly working with local elected representatives.
