15 department officers from the Internal Control Department of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) participated in a two-day workshop on “Good practices with internal control mechanisms in specialised law enforcement agencies” which took place on 27–28 October 2016, in Kyiv Ukraine.

The workshop provided an opportunity for NABU detectives to get familiarised with challenges and good practices in other countries, including Romania and Slovenia. Discussions were focused on internal structuring of internal controls, preventive mechanisms, integrity building, internal reporting tools, and methodologies for the detection and prevention of corruption risks within law enforcement agencies. The workshop was one of the first assistance efforts specifically targeted at the needs of the Internal Control Department in an overall effort to help NABU build its internal control structures under the support of the Joint CoE/EU Eastern Partnership Programmatic Cooperation Framework Project “Fight against Corruption in Ukraine”.
