UKRAINIAN AND INTERNATIONAL EXPERTS DISCUSSED INSTRUMENTS FOR COUNTERING INFORMATION DISORDER

On 7 February, 2020, an expert discussion of different approaches for countering information disorder and disinformation took place in Kyiv. The event was organized by the Project “European Union and Council of Europe working together to support freedom of media in Ukraine” (hereinafter — the Project)* in co-operation with the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport of Ukraine.

More than 60 experts took part in the discussion, including such speakers as Pavlo Pushkar, Head of Division of the Department for the Execution of the European Court of Human Rights Judgments, Directorate General for Human Rights and Rule of Law, Council of Europe, Mykola Gnatovskyy, D. J. S., Associate Professor at the Institute of International Relations, Kyiv National University, Senior Vice President of the Ukrainian Association of International Law First Vice-President of the Ukrainian Association of International Law, Markiian Bem, senior lawyer, attorney at “Vasyl Kysil and Partners”, Tom Law, Council of Europe consultant (United Kingdom), Dmytro Tuzov, TV and radio journalist, political columnist, Nataliia Yarmysh, D. J. S. expert in criminal law, National Prosecution Academy of Ukraine, Yevhen Fedchenko, Director of Mohyla School of Journalism at National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, Director of PhD program on mass communications, PhD, co-founder of StopFake, Oleksandr Burmahin, media lawyer, Executive Director of CSO “Human Rights Platform”, co-author of a book “Freedom of Speech under Armed Conflict”, Oksana Romaniuk, director of NGO “Institute of Mass Information”, Ukrainian representative of international organisation “Reporters Without Borders”, Mehri Druckman, Ukraine Country Representative at IREX and Oksana Maydan, Deputy chief of party, Internews in Ukraine.
