On July 28, 2022, the Council of Europe Project "Internal displacement in Ukraine: Building Solutions. Phase II" published the toolkit "Traumatic events: psychological support and self-care".
The toolkit is designed to facilitate services for internally displaced people and the war affected population based on a trauma-informed approach.
The toolkit equips practitioners of the helping professions to provide basic assistance to people experiencing traumatic events and as well as to prevent burnout.
Techniques of the toolkit were tested in the framework of the long-term training on posttraumatic stress disorder and community resilience organized by the Project in October 2021 - July 2022.
Multidisciplinary teams of practitioners from Berdyansk, Kramatorsk, Kryvyi Rih, Storozhynets, Tairove took part in the long-term training aiming at forming of a unified approach to react to traumatic events and psychological trauma.
The content and format of the toolkit were formulated based on the results of needs assessment carried out by the Project in March - May 2022 among practitioners of educational institutions, social services, centers for free legal aid and NGOs working with internally displaced persons and the war affected population.
The e-version of the toolkit is convenient to navigate; pages and sections are adapted to be shared as leaflets and posters .
