Training for trainers – teaching the European Social Charter and case law of the European Committee of Social Rights

A training for trainers for teaching the European Social Charter and the case law of the European Committee of Social Rights was held on June 14-25, 2021. Event was organised by the Council of Europe Project "Promoting social human rights as a key factor of sustainable democracy in Ukraine".

Format of the training included online theoretical lectures and seminars on the European Social Charter (ESC) and the case law of the European Committee of Social Rights, as well practical interactive tasks for acquiring soft skills of tutoring.

The 24 participants got acquainted with the main challenging aspects of the ESC implementation in Ukraine, the importance of teaching the Charter in higher education institutions to raise public awareness of social rights, building a training structure and the main stages of their conducting.

The trainers of the course were:

  • Ms Alla Fedorova, national consultant of the Council of Europe, Candidate of Law, Associate Professor, Institute of International Relations, Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv;
  • Ms Eugenia Bilan, national consultant of the Council of Europe, a coach for the ‘Training for Business’ Center, an expert in public speaking and teaching skills.

The training programme was based on the Curriculum "European Social Charter and its role in the protection of social rights in Ukraine", prepared by the Council of Europe national consultants Ms Alla Fedorova and Ms Olesya Otradnova in the framework of the Council of Europe project "Promoting social human rights as a key factor of sustainable democracy in Ukraine”.
