1 April 2024, Ukraine marks the 10th anniversary of the decentralisation reform.
Decentralisation has been one of the most necessary, successful and popular reforms in Ukraine. Thus, it should be continued in line with European standards.
On this occasion Mathieu Mori, Secretary General of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe, addressed a video to Ukrainian partners.
“We pay tribute to the key role played by local and regional authorities in Ukraine’s resilience today. They are and will continue to be major actors in the recovery and reconstruction of Ukraine. Decentralisation will ensure that they are efficient, transparent and that they bring a necessary local perspective,” noted Mathieu Mori.
He also confirmed that the Council of Europe and its Congress would continue its close cooperation with stakeholders at all levels, striving for a lasting impact of Ukraine’s multi-level governance reform and supporting its EU integration.
