Learn about myths and facts about the Istanbul Convention in Ukraine

On the International Day to End Violence against Women and to kick-start the 16-days of Activism against Gender-based Violence, the Council of Europe has worked in co-operation with the Ukrainian Ministry of Social Policy to produce two new infographics.

Myths and facts about the Istanbul Convention addresses current misconceptions in Ukraine about the convention, and is accompanied by an explanatory brochure.

The infographic, “Needed changes to the Ukrainian system of assistance for victims of violence against women and domestic violence” focuses on requirements supporting victims of violence against women if the Istanbul Convention is ratified. The infographics are accompanied by an explanatory brochure, which together can be used to raise awareness on the Council of Europe Convention on preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence (Istanbul Convention). A video based on these materials is forthcoming.

The infographics and brochures complement other awareness raising materials translated into Ukrainian, namely the Council of Europe’s Sexism action page and video, and the infographics on the 4Ps of the Istanbul Convention.

All information materials were produced under the project The Istanbul Convention: a tool to advance in fighting violence against women and domestic violence in Ukraine, which runs until December 2020.
