The Council of Europe held a meeting with representatives of civil society organisations working daily with the war-affected people and advocating for their rights.*

Such dialogue is important for understanding the real needs of the war-affected people. Civil society organisations work directly with such people, monitor the situation and build practical experience of the challenges they face.

Participants discussed opportunities to strengthen joint efforts and make use of civil society’s expertise and experience to develop more effective mechanisms for protecting the rights of and supporting war-affected people.

The Council of Europe confirmed its readiness to serve as a platform for bringing together the expertise, experience and recommendations of different partners and supporting their further transformation into practical solutions and activities.

The Council of Europe remains open to dialogue with civil society organisations and other partners to strengthen joint efforts to protect rights and improve access to effective remedies for the war-affected people.
