The Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe remains fully committed to supporting Ukraine on its path toward a European future, strengthened multilevel governance, and lasting peace.
In the midst of the war, Ukrainian communities are proving their strength and creativity, finding innovative solutions to overcome challenges. To highlight this unwavering resilience and role of local authorities, the Centre of Expertise for Multilevel Governance (CEMG) at the Congress implemented a dedicated TV project in collaboration with the Public Broadcasting Company of Ukraine – “Suspilne”.
The project featured 8 TV stories showcasing the best practices of Ukrainian communities, which were selected in partnership with 3 national associations of local authorities, following the CEMG’s Best Practice in Local Government toolkit.
From building shelters and collaborating with international donors to creating energy-independent communities and supporting internally displaced persons, these stories describe resourcefulness of local leaders and their teams. The project also showcases efforts in providing public services, supporting local hospitals, and adapting to relocated operations.
Broadcast in November-December 2024, these 8 TV stories were complemented by live thematic discussions with experts and local authorities’ representatives. The video concluding these TV stories is available in English here.
This TV project was implemented within the Programme “Strengthening Good Democratic Governance and Resilience in Ukraine”, which is implemented by the CEMG at the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities under the Council of Europe Action Plan for Ukraine “Resilience, Recovery and Reconstruction” 2023-2026.
