On 28 July 2026, the Council of Europe Project “Strengthening multilevel governance and local democracy to support Ukraine's recovery” supported a Strategic Session bringing together leaders from 15 communities of Ivano-Frankivsk region.

Participants identified joint IMC priority projects for emerging agglomeration, developed a roadmap for their implementation, and approved a long-term co-operation structure and action plan.

These steps mark a transition from intentions to practical multilevel co-operation. Implementing the selected projects will demonstrate the benefits of united action for residents across the agglomeration. According to the results of the session, projects in the field of agglomeration veteran hubs and a comprehensive public transport and mobility system were identified as priority. The next stage is the preparation of project cards.

The event was organised with the support of the project “Strengthening multilevel governance and local democracy to support Ukraine's recovery”, implemented by the Centre of Expertise for Multilevel Governance at the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe within the framework of the Council of Europe Action Plan for Ukraine “Resilience, Recovery and Reconstruction” 2023–2026.
