23 representatives of volunteer organisations, as well as independent volunteers from the Lviv region, participated in a three-day capacity-building training "Grant Writing and Systematic Fundraising", held on 29-31 January 2025.

The training was orginised by the Council of Europe project “Strengthening democratic resilience through civic participation during the war and in the post-war context in Ukraine” in cooperation with the Lviv Regional (Military) State Administration.

The training aimed to enhance participants’ skills in preparing projects for donor applications and international technical assistance programmes.

Over the course of three days the participants:

• Mastered at least 25-30 fundraising tools;
• Learned the key criteria donors consider when making funding decisions;
• Developed a fundraising plan to ensure the financial sustainability of their organisation or project.

Upon completion of the training, each participant will have the opportunity to work with an expert of the Council of Europe project on civic participation to develop a fundraising strategy with a clear timeline for specific activities and implementation deadlines. They will also identify methods, formats, and tools for executing the fundraising plan, enabling their organization to attract the necessary resources for full-scale operations and project implementation.

The Council of Europe project “Strengthening democratic resilience through civic participation during the war and in the post-war context in Ukraine” is designed to support the implementation of the objectives set out in the Council of Europe Action Plan for Ukraine “Resilience, Recovery and Reconstruction” (2023-2026) to strengthen the democratic processes and address the challenges public authorities are facing in the time of war and in post-war context through active and effective civic participation at the local, regional and national level.
