On 29 September 2023, the Launching event of the Human Rights Education for Legal Professionals (HELP) course on Ethics for Judges, Prosecutors and Lawyers was held in Baku, Azerbaijan in the framework of the Project on “Support for the improvement of the execution of the European Court judgments by Azerbaijan”.

Participants of the meeting, which was held in hybrid format comprised representatives of project partners, namely Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Azerbaijani Bar Association, and the Justice Academy together with the judges, prosecutors and lawyers who are registered for this tutored course.

The event commenced with opening remarks focusing on the importance of ethics and ethical principles for the administration of justice by the representatives of the Council of Europe and abovementioned project partners.

Following these remarks keynote speech on Judicial Ethics delivered by Council of Europe Consultant, underscoring the paramount importance of ethics in upholding the rule of law.

The subsequent segment of the event was dedicated to introducing the HELP Platform and delving into the course on Ethics for Judges, Prosecutors, and Lawyers and experience sharing on the implementation of the HELP Courses in other countries by the HELP Focal Point from the Justice Academy of Türkiye.

The tutors of the course further presented the course, which targets judges, prosecutors, and lawyers separately, providing attendees with a detailed explanation of its structure, the additional materials, and main aspects of its implementation.

Following the hybrid launching event, all participants will be enrolled on the dedicated course page and start the tutored course. Those among them who successfully complete the course will receive HELP certificates issued.
