12th plenary session of the Steering Committee for Culture, Heritage and Landscape (CDCPP)

The CDCPP will hold its 12th plenary session in Strasbourg on 15-17 November 2023. Members of the Committee will discuss, inter alia, the follow-ups to the Council of Europe Conference of Ministers of Culture (Strasbourg, 1 April 2022) and the 4th Summit of Heads of State and Government (Reykjavik, 16-17 May 2023). In this connection, the Committee will be invited to adopt the “L.I.N.K.E.D.” Guiding principles for an integrated approach to culture, nature and landscape management, and will be updated on progress made this year within the Working Group on Guidelines to complement Council of Europe standards in the fields of culture, creativity and cultural heritage.

The 2023 Thematic Session, entitled “Embracing democratic values in culturally diverse societies – the role of culture, heritage and landscape in supporting children and young people to become active and engaged citizens”, also takes its inspiration from the Reykjavik Declaration. Keynote speakers will discuss the importance of cultural literacy, together with the topics of formal and non-formal approaches to culture and cultural heritage that support young people and help them to become part of well-functioning democracies.
