Tilbage CPT holds its November 2016 plenary meeting

The European Committee for the Prevention of Torture and Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment (CPT) held its 91st plenary meeting from 7 to 11 November 2016 in Strasbourg.

During this meeting, it adopted the reports on its periodic visits to Azerbaijan (March/April 2016), Italy (April 2016), Latvia (April 2016), the Netherlands (May 2016) and Liechtenstein (June 2016), and on its ad hoc visits to Greece (April and July 2016) and to Turkey (August/September 2016). These reports will be sent shortly to the respective authorities. In accordance with Article 11, paragraph 2, of the ECPT[1], the CPT’s reports and the government responses are published only at the request of the authorities.

Other issues discussed included the states’ responses to previous visit reports, and the high-level talks held in October 2016 with the authorities of Sweden. In addition, the CPT held a number of thematic discussions and prepared future periodic and ad hoc visits.
