I condemn the decision by a Tripoli court to sentence Saif al-Islam Gaddafi and eight other defendants to death. This case should have been turned over to the International Criminal Court in the Hague for a fair trial. The Council of Europe reaffirms its commitment to promote abolition of the death penalty across the European continent and worldwide.
