During its closed plenary session in Venice, Italy, the Council of Europe’s Venice Commission elected Marta Cartabia as its new president. Marta Cartabia is a full professor of constitutional law at Bocconi University in Milan, President Emerita of the Constitutional Court of Italy and former Minister of Justice of Italy.

The Commission also adopted a follow-up opinion in respect of Montenegro (on some questions relating to the procedure of early termination of the mandate of Constitutional Court judges due to age limits), a report and an amicus curiae brief for the European Court of Human Rights. Further details on the items the Venice Commission examined can be found in the synopsis of the plenary session.
