- Description
- Valmagne Abbey is a former Cistercian monastery founded in 1145. After the French Revolution, the Abbey was sold as national property and converted into a wine cellar, thus preserving it from becoming a stone quarry (www.cister.net/abbayes/fr/28/valmagne). Today, the complex hosts cultural events and is accessible to visitors.
