The Group of Experts on Action against Trafficking in Human Beings (GRETA) will hold an event on the occasion of its 50th plenary meeting and 15 years of monitoring of the implementation of the Council of Europe Convention on Action against Trafficking in Human Beings. Deputy Secretary General Bjørn Berge, Chair of the Committee of the Parties Maria Spassova and Deputy Permanent Representative of Liechtenstein to the Council of Europe Helen Lorez-Schweig will make opening statements.
The event will include a panel discussion with former GRETA presidents and vice-presidents on the impact of GRETA’s work and its significance for other organisations.
United Nations Special Rapporteur on trafficking in persons, especially women and children, Siobhán Mullally and Judge at the European Court of Human Rights Davor Derenčinović will be among panellists.
The event will also take stock of the 3rd evaluation round of the Council of Europe Convention on Action against Trafficking in Human Beings, with a thematic focus of victims’ access to justice and effective remedies. Finally, there will be a debate about the future of the monitoring of the Convention, that will include GRETA members, Committee of the Parties members and civil society representatives.
The opening session (9-9.30 am) will be open to the media.
