- Regionalverband Ruhr gathers 11 independent municipalities and 4 districts in the Ruhr metropolitan area. RVR is the regional planning authority for the Ruhr metropolitan area. The association is a corporation under public law with the right to self-government through its organs.
The Regionalverband Ruhr co-ordinates the Route of Industrial Heritage in the Ruhr basin.
Regionalverband Ruhr is a Corporate Member of the European Route of Industrial Heritage.
