Regional Conference on
Cybercrime
19-21 March
2007, Belgrade, Serbia
Within
the framework of the Project on
Combating Economic Crime in Serbia,
the Council of Europe organised a
regional conference on Cybercrime
which took place in Belgrade from 19
to 21 March 2007.
The main purpose of the
conference was to review the
effectiveness of the national
legislation of the countries
represented and their compliance
with the Convention on Cybercrime,
to strengthen regional and
international co-operation against
cybercrime both at the judicial and
police levels, discuss the
capacities of criminal justice
systems to investigate, prosecute
and adjudicate cybercrime, and to
share experience and good practices
to better prevent and combat
cybercrime.
Representatives from 12
countries, mainly from Central and
South-eastern Europe, were invited
to participate in this event –
representative from the Judiciary,
Ministries of Justice and Interior,
representatives of business
associations and interest groups,
and international organizations.
Efforts are urgently required to
implement important instruments to
combat cybercrime and to create a
more effective and efficient
co-operation between national
institutions in combating cybercrime.
The Conference is aimed at
supporting these efforts.
