Promoting Diversity through Youth Political Participation

The participants of the online workshop “Hear me out! Take me in!” held their first webinar today. The activity aims to explore challenges and good practices from political youth organisations in promoting participation in an inclusive, meaningful and sensitive to diversity approach. The activity is prepared and run in cooperation with LYMEC – the European Liberal Youth.

The activity gathers some 40 participants representing youth political organisations and other youth civil society interested in diversity who take part both in the e-learning modules on the Youth Departments’ e-learning platform, and the webinars.

The objectives of the activity are:

  • To analyse the connection between diversity, power and rhetoric and see how this impacts young people’s political participation
  • To discuss challenges and issues which prevent young people with diverse backgrounds to take part in the political decision-making process
  • To map good practices in supporting inclusive and meaningful youth participation in political youth organisations
  • To introduce existing Council of Europe approaches for youth participation and explore the instruments of the Youth sector of the Council of Europe.
