For the last year, she has been investigating the links between technology, democracy and dark money. Her first novel, The Family Tree, was shortlisted for many prizes, including the 2006 Commonwealth Writers' Prize, and got translated into several languages including Spanish, Italian, German, Czech, and Portuguese.
