Teachers train through interactive LEMON courses on social media, democracy and human rights

126 Albanian teachers of democratic citizenship education and human sciences, members of the TeacherNet, are introduced to the Council of Europe’s LEMON courses on Social Media, Democracy and Human Rights, from 1st to 20 December 2021. These state-of-art courses, part of the Council of Europe’s Education online learning platform LEMON (Learning Modules Online), offer practical teaching and training resources to education professionals across Europe.

During the training, teachers explored the links between social media, democracy and human rights and their importance for democratic and more inclusive schooling environment and engaged in lively debates around these topics. The sessions involved various participatory methods, including group work, role plays, energisers, presentations, and free discussions which helped to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere and encouraged an active and meaningful participation.

LEMON courses will be integrated part of capacity building activities organized for professional teachers within the project “Strengthening Democratic Citizenship Education in Albania” aiming to help teachers to develop new professional competences, practices and attitudes that better contribute to the development of competences for democratic culture in learners and ensure an inclusive and enabling learning environment for all children.

The project “Strengthening Democratic Citizenship Education in Albania” is implemented by the Council of Europe and funded by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency.
