Head of Council of Europe Office in Georgia meets with newly-installed Auditor General Irakli Mekvabishvili

On October 30 Head of Council of Europe Office in Georgia, Cristian Urse, met with Auditor General Irakli Mekvabishvili. The Auditor General was accompanied by the Deputy Auditor General Ekaterine Ghazadze and the Head of Financial Monitoring Service of Political Parties Zurab Aznaurashvili.  

Cristian Urse congratulated the Auditor General on his recent confirmation to the post by the Parliament and wished him a successful term on the post.  Auditor General expressed satisfaction for the cooperation between the State Audit Office and the Council of Europe Office in Georgia and emphasized the latter’s contribution to enhancing the State Audit capacity to fulfill its mandate, especially on election-related matters such as ensuring transparency of political party financing and reporting on campaign expenditure. The sides took stock of the successfully implemented activities and reiterated readiness to continue and strengthen co-operation in the future.
