"Enhancing Sport with gender balance"

Online event on the sidelines of the sixty-fifth session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW65) (United Nations)

Objectives This event addresses the participation of women and girls in all aspects of the sports world, from doing sport to coaching, reporting on sport events and to holding decision-making positions. Panellists will discuss the progress made so far, the persisting and new challenges, and the importance of regularly measuring it at a global level with a view to stepping up the pace towards gender equality in sport.

Gender equality in sport matters!

Achieving gender equality is a question of fairness and justice. Investing in women and girls has also a positive impact on society as a whole, and benefits sport organisations at large: improved public image; expansion of their market; higher performance due to input from a more diverse workforce; economic growth; etc.

Recently, the Council of Europe (CoE)’s Enlarged Partial Agreement on Sport ran a vast data collection campaign on gender equality in sport, covering leadership, coaching, participation, gender-based violence and media/communication. The collected information supports the development of gender equality strategies in 18 European countries (EU-CoE joint project ALL IN).
