The SOGI Unit relaunches its compendium of legislation and policies

The compendium of legislation and policies is relaunched today in the SOGI Unit website, in an effort to increase cross-knowledge of SOGI issues in different European (and also non-European) Member States.

Designed as an open-platform to which submissions can be made, the compendium brings together national resources, encompassing:

  • legislation, whether draft or final;
  • national action plans and strategies, either general or relating to a particular field (e.g. education, youth);
  • Parliament resolutions;
  • best practices compilations;
  • national jurisprudence;
  • publications such as toolkits or guidance documents;
  • others resources of relevance.

The submission of resources can be made to the SOGI Unit by different stakeholders: policy-makers, legislators, public servants, governmental agents, international organisations, NGOs, stakeholders working or interested on SOGI. These submissions are then be reviewed by the SOGI Unit, who is responsible for their approval for publishing and categorisation, making them available for download.

By bringing together national resources on SOGI, the compendium seeks to promote understanding on SOGI equality and further build a momentum for consensus which can positively impact the lives of LGBTI persons in the 12 chapters acknowledged under the Committee of Ministers Recommendation to member states on measures to combat discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity.
