Safe at school: tackling homophobic and transphobic bullying

The recently published Council of Europe/UNESCO report “Safe at School: Education sector responses to violence based on sexual orientation, gender identity/expression or sex characteristics in Europe” will be presented at the conference on 3 April, at 18:30h, at the Lieu de l’Europe.

This type of violence at schools occurs everywhere in Europe and is acutely underreported. It is rooted in cultural norms and expectations about gender and gender roles, it can be psychological, physical or sexual, and it occurs in or around the schools, as well as online. Policies to address school violence based on sexual orientation, gender identity/expression and sex characteristics in the education sector and good practices will be discussed during the event.

This Conference will be chaired by Eleni Tsetsekou, Head of SOGI Unit, and will have the participation of João Pereira, Programme Advisor.
