As in previous years, the Pompidou Group took part in the yearly session of the Commission on Narcotic Drugs (CND). Represented by its Portuguese Presidency, the Group attended the Ministerial Segment which took stock of the implementation of the international commitments made to counter the world drug problem, and co-sponsored four side events in collaboration with its member states, which attracted great attention among government and civil society representatives.
During the Ministerial Segment (14-15 March), the Portuguese Presidency delivered a statement in which the Group reaffirms that the world drug problem requires an integrated and balanced response, as well as evidence-based drug programmes, strategies and policies in the full respect of human rights and dignity of all individuals.
A publication stand of the Pompidou Group present throughout the 62nd Session ensured greater visibility of the Group among the participating delegations.
