Global Development Education values spread through media

Relying on the expertise of professional journalists this activity seeks to develop a partnership with media and journalist organisations to promote knowledge, skills and tools to report and interact on social media respecting the principles of Global Development Education.

The Media literacy task force developped a toolkit that targets youth multipliers and educators and gathers practical and contextual information about Media Literacy (ML) and its contribution to the field of Global Education (GE).
Its activities and fact sheets are focused on non-formal learning contexts, but they can also be implemented in schools since the toolkit combines the most recent developments in GE, ML and Digital Citizenship Education useful to enrich formal school curricula.
All the practical activities proposed in the toolkit are in line with the Competences for Democratic Culture and the Human Rights approach of the Council of Europe.
The toolkit’s main aim is to empower practitioners on ML, but also to provide the wider public with the knowledge and tools to become more responsible and active citizens, offering activities focused on the critical analysis and production of media messages, analysis of algorithms, active participation in societies, maintenance of privacy, maintenance of well-being
and management of e-identity.

Youth Cooperation Programme activities in the scope of the joint Programme EU - Council of Europe - iLEGEND

Youth organisations have the expertise, pedagogical approach and capacity to reach out to and raise awareness among young people. They are thus key strategic partner f the North-South Centre for the implementation of the iLEGEND project. By offering them networking and knowledge sharing opportunities, the promotion of Global Development Education (GDE) is strengthened.

In this context, the activities of the youth cooperation programme in the framework of the iLEGEND seek to strengthen the role of youth as key actors in global and interregional development, as well as to facilitate the development of youth policies and structures for youth participation. These are preconditions for the change and development, which the North-South Centre seeks to promote.
