The law students involved in the human rights legal clinic in Montenegro, participated in the workshop on “The phenomenon of domestic violence” organised in co-operation with the SoS Line Podgorica on 18 February 2021.

Working with the colleagues who have extensive experience in supporting victims of violence enabled students to gain first-hand experience on how to approach victims and provide comprehensive legal and phycological support to them. The workshop was organised for a small group of students, in a team-oriented environment conducive to active participations and interactions, allowing to learn from co-workers.

The students learned about the main techniques the offenders use to avoid criminal liability, including legal, psychological and social tools to manipulate the victim.

The co-operation with SOS Line Podgorica will be continued in the context of the human rights legal clinic, where students will have a chance to work directly on “real cases” under the supervision and tutorship of legal professionals and experienced NGO activists.

The action "Improved procedural safeguards in judicial proceedings in Montenegro" is a part of the joint European Union and Council of Europe programme “Horizontal Facility for the Western Balkans and Turkey 2019-2022”.
