The final Steering Committee meeting of the Project “Initiative for legal certainty and efficient judiciary in Bosnia and Herzegovina” took place on 26 June 2020. Due to the sanitary situation, the meeting was held online. It was attended by the representatives of the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Ministry of Justice of Bosnia and Herzegovina, law faculties in Bosnia and Herzegovina, High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council,  Centres for Training of Judges and Prosecutors of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Republika Srpska, the Judicial Commission of Brcko District, the Supreme Courts of Republika Srpska and Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Court of Republika Srpska and the Appellate Court of Brčko District,  together with representatives of our partners from the European Delegation, OSCE and The Aire Centre. 

The Project which lasted for 18 months ends on 30 June 2020, and the meeting was an occasion to sum up the results, which include the enhanced dialogue between courts in Bosnia and Herzegovina on the harmonisation of case classification, support to the case law departments in the Supreme courts of the two entities, Appellate Court of Brčko District and Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina and building the skills of judges and legal advisors to draft judgments with the consideration of the case law of the European Court of Human Rights.

The Project will be followed up by Phase II, starting from 1 July 2020, which will also last for 18 months. The work will continue to build up on the achievements of the present project and to further strengthen the judiciary of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
