Redesigning a City Centre taking into account the intercultural diversity

Action! Karl-Marx-Straße – ‘Young, Colourful, Successful’ is an ambitious €10 million urban regeneration programme for the main street in the borough. Whilst Karl-Marx-Straße is the buzzing heart of Neukölln with not only the Town Hall but also the ethnic retail economy, it currently feels tired and dowdy and dominated by the motor car. Neukölln has the chance to be the first place in Germany to redesign a city centre in a way that acknowledges cultural diversity.
