As part of its immediate assistance to Ukraine following Russia’s aggression, and as a follow-up to initial consultations between the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Marija Pejčinović Burić and the Prosecutor General of Ukraine, Iryna Venediktova, the Directorate General Human Rights and Rule of Law of the Council of Europe has established an expert advisory group to support the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine.

Jeremy McBride, Barrister, Monckton Chambers, UK, and Nona Tsotsoria, former Judge of the European Court of Human Rights, and former Deputy Chief Prosecutor of Georgia, are members of the group. The advisory group has started providing strategic-level expert advice to the Prosecutor General and her Office in the process of investigating gross human rights violations in the context of the ongoing war in Ukraine on cross-cutting issues related to European human rights standards and international humanitarian law.
