From 6 to12 October 2019, 20 youth workers representing Youth Centres from different regions of Moldova were participating in the "COMPASS National Training Course in Human Rights Education in Republic of Moldova" organized by MilleniuM Training and Development Institute in partnership and with the financial, educational and institutional support of the Youth Department - Council of Europe.
The course is aimed at achieving the following objectives:
- to develop knowledge and skills of participants regarding key concepts regarding human rights education;
- to familiarize participants with the content and methodology of using the COMPASS manual;
- to encourage participants to activate as multipliers at national and local level;
- to provoke an exchange of ideas and methods used in human rights education;
- to explore similarities and differences between formal and non-formal education in the context of promoting human rights;
- to raise awareness of the importance of human rights education for lobby and advocacy activities locally.
During the training, participants became acquainted with the definitions, characteristics, values and history of Human Rights, as well as discovered which are the mechanisms of protection of Human Rights at national and international level.
Thanks to the presence of the representative of the Youth Department of the Council of Europe, the participants learned about educational programs of the Council of Europe and opportunities offered to Youth Organizations.
Participants discovered also the educational approaches of the COMPASS manual, tested their skills on facilitating educational activities for young people on human rights education by organizing educational workshops based on the manual.
On the last days participants planned a follow up activity in order to organize trainings for young people using Compass Manual on Human Rights Education with youngsters.
