From 16 to 17 December, 16 representatives of youth NGOs who implemented between 2017 and 2019 a National Training Course on Human Rights Education in 13 Council of Europe Member States, together with trainers involved in running these educational activities, gathered in the premises of the European Youth Centre in Strasbourg for an evaluation meeting of the activity’s outcomes.
Together with the external researcher who conducted the desk research on the outcomes, the meeting focused on identifying the challenges confronted with in the implementation as well as for creating a set of practical recommendation for the future national training course implementers.
The meeting analysed the experiences accumulated and the outcomes as well as the expectations and responsibilities of/from both the national partners and the Council of Europe, introduced to the partner organisations the work of the Council of Europe on Human Rights Education, reviewed the role of the National Compass Training Courses within the Human Rights Education Youth Programme and created a set of recommendations, to the Council of Europe Youth Department as well as to the future implementers for further successful implementation of the National Training Courses.
The National Training Courses on Human Rights Education organised between 2017 -2019 at the initiative of youth organisations or national or local institutions interested in introducing and developing the provisions and quality of human rights education aimed at developing the competences (knowledge, skills, attitudes and values) of key multipliers for human rights education such as youth leaders, trainers, youth workers, teachers and teacher trainers. They also contributed to processes and initiatives for EDC/HRE at the national level initiated by youth organisations or other education institutions.
