Back HELP project conference on “Crimes against Human Dignity: Interaction of International and National Remedies”

On 28 March 2019 the Council of Europe in co-operation with the Federal Bar Association of Russia and the International Commission of Jurists organised a conference in Moscow on the topic of “Crimes against Human Dignity: Interaction of International and National Remedies”, Russia.

The Conference was attended by: Mikhail Lobov, Head of Human Rights Policy and Co-operation Department of the Council of Europe, Yury Pilipenko, President of the Federal Bar Association, Denis Novak, Vice-Minister of Justice of the Russian Federation, Radmila Dragichevich Dichich, Vice-President of the International Commission of Jurists and Judge of the Supreme Court of Serbia, Ilya Subbotin, Deputy Director of the Department for Paneuropean Co-operation of the Russian Foreign Ministry and Petr Sich, Head of the Council of Europe Programme Office in the Russian Federation.

The Conference addressed the relevant national and international remedies for crimes against human dignity, and served for the exchange of good legal practices in that regard.

The issues of identification, qualification and the assessment of crimes against human dignity, the evidence and investigation of such violations, the professional training of practicing lawyers as a factor of strengthening the efficiency of legal remedies were discussed during the Conference.

Practicing lawyers and advocates, as well as representatives of regional bar associations of Russia took part in the Conference.
