Thanks to the excellent cooperation of the Council of Europe HELP Programme with the Lithuanian National Courts Administration and the Bar association, second editions of two HELP courses for legal professionals were launched at a joint event hosted by the National Courts Administration in Vilnius.

The HELP course on Data protection and privacy rights was launched for 40 judges and judicial assistants, whereas more than 30 lawyers will benefit from the course on Labour rights as human rights.

The launching event was opened by Ms Reda Molienė, Director of the Lithuanian National Courts Administration and Mr Edmundas Budvytis, Council Member of the Lithuanian Bar association.

Following the presentation of the Council of Europe Human Rights Education for Legal Professionals Programme (HELP), the joint session included a presentation on the legal developments in the data protection sphere in EU by Ms Dijana Šinkūnienė, Acting Director of the Lithuanian State Data Protection Inspectorate, and a presentation on the privacy protection challenges in Lithuania by prof. Liudvika Meškauskaitė, lawyer and one of the national tutors of the Data protection and privacy rights course. Moreover, the participants in the kick-off event benefitted from a presentation on the key aspects of European and Lithuanian labour rights in employment law by Marius Bartninkas, Judge and national tutor of Labour Rights course.

Both courses will be implemented over the following months. The course on Data Protection will be tutored by Jolanta Samuolytė and prof. Liudvika Meškauskaitė. The course on Labour Rights will be tutored by Judge Marius Bartninkas.

You can find all available language versions of the Data Protection course here and of the Labour Rights course here.
