Residents of the “Kyiv Agglomeration” – the Kyiv sub-region municipalities and the Kyiv City – were surveyed on attitudes towards metropolitan governance. Findings of this opinion poll commissioned by the Council of Europe Programme “Decentralisation and local government reform in Ukraine” were presented in Kyiv on 29 September. This is the first quality survey in this thematic area. It demonstrated positive attitudes of the majority of population of Kyiv metropolitan area towards inter-municipal cooperation: 45.1% support this idea. It is also supported 44.4% of the Kyiv City residents, by 59.7% of those living in communities located less than 30 km from the capital, and by 33.2% of those living over 30 km from it.
The findings will serve as a basis for further assistance activities of the Centre of Expertise for Good Governance which will help develop better metropolitan governance in Ukraine.
