Delivering Good Governance in Slovakia – Programme Board Meeting

The Board of the project "Delivering Good Governance in Slovakia” held its second meeting on 22 October 2020, online. It brought together representatives of the Ministry of the Interior (MoI), the Ministry of Finance, the Supreme Audit Office, the European Commission's DG REFORM, other key stakeholders, local partner institutions and the Council of Europe. The members of the Board discussed progress in the implementation of the project as well as new developments and challenges, notably related to the Covid-19 pandemic.

National partner institutions and experts shared details on the implemented activities and reported on the achievements, such as the final Report on the Training Needs Analysis (TNA) for local authorities and the draft Strategy for strengthening of the local government. There was also a good feedback from the Slovak municipalities on the implementation of the European Label of Governance Excellence, and on the Leadership Academy Programme. The next steps will include the organisation of a peer review on prospects of territorial consolidation in Slovakia, the preparation of a National Training and Capacity-Building Strategy for local authorities, the preparation of policy advice on distribution of competences and cooperation between the different levels of government.
