The Democratic Governance Department is responsible for overseeing the work of the intergovernmental European Committee on Democracy and Governance and the assistance and cooperation activities implemented by the Centre of Expertise for Good Governance aimed at improving legislation in the area of decentralisation and public administration and at strengthening the institutional capacity of local, regional and central authorities.
