Seminar for Lawyers in Bosnia and Herzegovina

A training of trainers on the topic of Application of the Article 10 on Freedom of Expression in BiH judiciary, was held in Zenica, BiH, on 22 and 23 January 2019. 16 Lawyers from the entire Bosnia and Herzegovina, who are members of both Bar Associations (of Federation of BiH and of Republika Srpska), attended the training. Alongside the discussion on key principles of freedom of expression, this training also focused on methodology for education of adults, the professionals of this area. The idea was that after the seminar a group of lawyers has been certified to be entitled to hold educational programs and cascade trainings for their peers, applying the methodology of the Council of Europe and using the standards of the European Court of Human Rights, further expanded.

Alongside with the Council of Europe international expert on the Article 10 of ECHR, Konul Gasimova, the domestic experts – a judge of the District court in Banja Luka, Amir Kapetanovic, and a lawyer from Doboj, Irena Puzic Obradovic, were also educators at the training.

Seminar was organized within the framework of a joint EU/CoE project “Reinforcing Judicial Expertise on Freedom of Expression and the Media in South-East Europe (JUFREX)”, together with the Bar Association of FBiH.
