Azerbaijani journalists trained on Council of Europe standards on gender equality and media

Three consecutive training sessions on "Gender equality and media" for journalists and students of journalism faculties were organised in Baku on 23-25 January 2019 within the CoE project “Gender equality and media freedom in Azerbaijan”, in close cooperation with the State Committee on Family, Women and Children Affairs.

The main aim of the training sessions was to raise awareness on the European standards on gender equality and media freedom among journalists and students of journalism faculties and to give the floor to open discussions. The training sessions were conducted by experienced international and local experts, who made presentations on the Council of Europe standards on gender equality and media, combating sexists hate speech, media coverage of gender issues as well as gender equality in Azerbaijani media; perspectives and challenges.

About 50 journalists and 20 students of journalism faculties trained on the Council of Europe standards on gender equality and media freedom and took an active part in discussions.
