Back Multilateral talks: Execution of judgments related to detention conditions in Romania

Representatives of the Department for the Execution of Judgments of the European Court of Human Rights, the Registry of the European Court of Human Rights and the Secretariat of the Committee for the Prevention of Torture held consultations with the Romanian authorities in Strasbourg on 17 January 2018.

The objective was to discuss the progress achieved and the next steps envisaged in order to address the issues of overcrowding and poor material conditions of detention in prisons and police detention facilities in Romania.

Exchanges of view were held in the light of the indications provided by the European Court of Human Rightin its pilot judgment Rezmiveş and Others  and the Committee of Ministers’ decisions in the context of its supervision of the execution of the Bragadireanu group of cases.
