Debate on the 10th Annual Report on the supervision of the execution of judgments and decisions of the European Court of Human Rights

The Committee of Minsters held a debate on the 10th Annual Report on its supervision of the execution of judgments and decisions of the European Court of Human Rights on 1st June 2017.

On the basis of the encouraging results presented in the report, the discussions focused on how state authorities and different institutions of the Council of Europe can further improve their interactions/synergies in order to ensure full, prompt and effective execution of the European Court’s judgments.

Comments on the report were made by Mr Linos-Alexandre Sicilianos, Vice-President and Judge at the European Court of Human Rights; Mr René Rouquet, Vice-President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe; Mr Nils Muiznieks, Commissioner for Human Rights of the Council of Europe; Ms Brigitte Konz, Chairperson of the Steering Committee for Human Rights (CDDH); Ms Anna Rurka, President of the Conference of the INGOs; Ms Julie Lejeune, Legal Policy Officer at the European Network of National Human Rights Institutions (ENNHRI).

Numerous representatives of the Council of Europe’s monitoring and consultative bodies were also invited to share their experiences and exchanges views regarding the execution of the European Court’s judgments.
