Back "EYF (Re)wind"

Seminar 2017

For the fifth consecutive year, the European Youth Foundation met representatives of youth NGOs to gain awareness about the different situations organisations address with the support of the EYF and to improve mutual transparency and accountability.

After the success of the four previous EYF seminars (EYF Reloaded in 2013, EYF (R)evolution in 2014, EYF (Re)generation in 2015, EYF (Re)mix in 2016), EYF (Re)wind gathered 30 representatives of local and national youth NGOs from 24 countries at the European Youth Centre in Strasbourg on 1-4 March 2017. This year, the EYF selected NGOs who had either not yet submitted a grant application or whose applications had been rejected.

The programme of this 4-day seminar - prepared by the whole EYF team and two co-ordinators - combined non-formal education methods, informal discussions, practical workshops and updates on the political context in which the EYF is working. The focus was placed on the criteria and priorities for pilot activities at local level, providing participants with a clear understanding of the EYF’s working methods and spirit.

Since the introduction of various changes in 2013 such as the new grant categories, new online application and reporting system as well as the new website, the EYF focused its efforts on presenting and explaining these modifications. These seminars are also a way of evaluating and receiving feedback, in order to further strengthen the partnership with youth NGOs.

As a result of the 4-day meeting, the EYF:

  • received feedback and shared information on EYF’s regulations, application/reporting system, website;
  • created a mutual understanding regarding pilot activities;
  • gained awareness about the context in which NGOs work and the needs that they address with EYF support;
  • revitalized transparency and accountability between EYF and youth NGOs;
  • encouraged networking between representatives of local and national NGOs;
  • shared best practices.
