Social Rights

The Council of Europe Project “Strengthening Protection of Social and Economic Rights in Georgia” facilitated a workshop for the Labour Inspection Office of Georgia on 5 May 2022.

The workshop is part of a training series on developing communication and social skills for employees and further strengthening the LIO institutional capacity. The workshop was also intended to identity key issues of concern and areas for improvement, the specifics of the Office's mandate and practice in dealing with difficult situations.

The Labour Inspection Office is a newly established legal entity under public law. It needs to strengthen its social competences in order to effectively enforce labour law. This activity will facilitate quality work in communication with employers, employees and interested third parties in general, which will make the work of the Office even more efficient. At the same time, the satisfaction shared by society will help the Labour Inspection Office to gain public trust in the long term, which is essential for the proper functioning of the Office.

Nato Natenadze, First Deputy Chief Inspector of the Labour Inspection Office, indicated that involving the management of the Labour Inspection Office in the process and ensuring that their input is well taken into account in the development of the upcoming training will be a solid guarantee of a well-targeted training, based on real challenges and needs, and which will ultimately develop the effective communication skills of labour inspection employees. She also noted that apart from the preparation of the upcoming training series, the workshop was extremely interesting and rewarding in terms of improving managerial skills in communication and positioning. She thanked the Council of Europe for this and expressed the hope for continued productive cooperation.

The event was organised within the framework of the Council of Europe Project “Strengthening Protection of Social and Economic Rights in Georgia.” The Project is part of the Council of Europe Action Plan for Georgia 2020-2023.
