The Governmental Committee* of the European Social Charter and the European Code of Social Security (‘Governmental Committee’) will hold its 142nd meeting from 10 to 12 May 2021 via videoconference.
The Governmental Committee will, among other things, discuss the position paper prepared by its Working Group on the follow-up to the Committee of Ministers decisions and the CDDH report on improving the protection of social rights in Europe.
In addition, it will discuss certain situations of non-conformity and follow-up measures taken by the States Parties with respect to Article 20 of the Revised European Social Charter and Article 1 of the 1988 Additional Protocol in respect of the right to equal pay.
An up-dated list of INGOs entitled to lodge collective complaints will also be submitted to the Governmental Committee with a view to its adoption.
In the framework of the European Code of Social Security, the Governmental Committee will proceed to the adoption of the ILO Conclusions as draft Council of Europe Resolutions to be submitted to the Committee of Ministers. In addition, the report of the ILO’s Committee of Experts on the Application of Conventions and Recommendations (CEACR), which provides an analytical summary of the information provided by Contracting Parties to the Code and Protocol concerning social security measures adopted at the national level in response to the pandemic, will be presented.
* The Governmental Committee is composed of Representatives of the States Parties which ratified either the European Social Charter or the European Code of Social Security.
