The Council of Europe’s European Commission against Racism and Intolerance (ECRI) and No Hate Speech and Co-operation Unit organised, in the framework of the joint EU and Council of Europe project on ‘Strengthening access to justice for victims of discrimination, hate crime and hate speech’, an online Round Table on enhancing equality and non-discrimination by training law enforcement officials and the judiciary on hate crime on 3 June 2021.

The main purpose of the event was to discuss with relevant national stakeholders the latest ECRI Conclusions on the Republic of Moldova. In addition, the roundtable focused on successful practices on the training of law enforcement officials and the judiciary on hate crime and future steps on combating hate crime and discrimination in the Republic of Moldova.

William Massolin, Head of the Council of Europe Office in Chisinau, Ambassador Corina Calugaru, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Moldova to the Council of Europe, Maria Daniella Marouda, ECRI’s Chair as well as representatives from the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Office of the Prosecutor General participated in this event.
