BeSafeNet 2022 Olympiad

Secondary schools from the member States of the European and Mediterranean Major Hazards Agreement (EUR-OPA) will take part in the fourth international "Olympiad" which is an online competition on “Better knowledge against disasters” scheduled for 18 February 2022 at 09.00 CET.

More than 200 schools from the EUR-OPA member States are expected to register for the Olympiad which offers students a chance to strengthen their knowledge on natural and technological hazards that could occur at any moment. The Olympiad also aims to promote adequate behaviour in risk situations in order to reduce the potential impact of disasters.

The Olympiad is organised in the context of the BeSafeNet project supported by the EUR-OPA Major Hazards Agreement of the Council of Europe and is implemented by the Cyprus Civil Defence. It aims to share reliable information on the nature, causes and consequences of natural and technological disasters through the internet as well as promote a global risk culture among populations, particularly young people.
