Fruitful exchange of good practices between electoral administrations  of the Republic of Moldova and Georgia

The representatives of the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) and the Centre for Continuous Electoral Training of the Republic of Moldova met with representatives of Georgian election and state authorities in Tbilisi: Central Electoral Commission of Georgia, State Audit Office, Electoral Systems Development, Reform and Training Center, Krtsanisi District Electoral Commission, as well as civil society representatives.

This study visit is a follow up of the Regional Moldovan-Georgian workshop “Digital solutions in electoral processes: new Council of Europe Guidelines on the Use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in Electoral Processes in Council of Europe member States” held online on 20 May 2022.

Throughout the visit, participants had the opportunity to exchange views, and share experiences, on a number of topics focusing on digital solutions in electoral processes, transparency and legality of political party and electoral campaign finances, gender-based issues, electoral reforms and the e-voting pilot projects in Georgia.

Among the objectives of this study visit, is the strengthening of the knowledge on the above-mentioned topics, and possible adjustments to the relevant CEC’s regulations and/or development of the amendments to the newly developed Electoral Code, which is to be examined by the Moldovan Parliament at the end of July 2022.

This activity was organised and funded by the Council of Europe Project Improving Electoral Practice in the Republic of Moldova, Phase II, in cooperation with the Council of Europe Office in Georgia and Project Supporting Transparency, Inclusiveness and Integrity of Electoral Practice and Process in Georgia.
